How to be a Sustainable Artist in 2023
Welcome all members to engaged to join us on February 16th for a interactive workshop covering tangible strategies and tactics for plugging in as a Boston artist no matter your discipline. Come join this session for creatives and culture bearers on managing, promoting, and safeguarding our practices. Let’s share and exchange best practices on resources to maintain forward momentum for ourselves and as a collective.
The NAACBoston Mentorship & Sponsorship Program (MSP3) is in its third year, MSP3’s builds upon research showing both that arts administrators of color are under-mentored and that mentoring under-represented categories of professionals (women and people of color)—by itself—does not drive systemic change in the current power structures of our predominately white institutions and sectors.
This year’s program is themed around Connections, building on the lessons from the 2019 to 2022 programs to address the ever-changing needs of BIPOC arts administrators as we continue to navigate the pandemics of racism and COVID-19.
This year’s program will include workshop series and tools centered on reconnecting and rebuilding the Boston arts sector, adapting to in the post-pandemic landscape and finding new ways to create equity for all.
Facilitator:
Ngoc-Tran Vu is am a transnational, interdisciplinary, multi-generational creator and storyteller. I am an artist and strategic consultant whose work bridges socio-cultural advocacy with strategic and sustainable impact.
My approach is influenced and informed by my Vietnamese American heritage, organizing experience and understanding of the BIPOC and AAPI communities.
My thematic work inquires about the intersection of familial connections, rituals, and social justice. I aim to create thought-provoking art installations, pieces, frameworks, and discourse where communities can have a brave and open space to connect for a common purpose.
